Tres Caliente: Homeless man hired by Cavs, D-Will not a happy camper

Tres caliente — “the hot three” if you trust my high school Spanish teacher — is a recap of the top 3 NBA stories of the day. From trade rumors to fines to injury reports to big-time performances, we’ve got you covered when it comes to NBA news — with a touch of Latin flair. Eva Longoria-Parker. Here are the top 3 stories for Thurs., Jan. 6.

1. Ted Williams, the homeless man with a golden voice, has been hired by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Williams was discovered on a local news segment and has become an overnight Internet sensation because of his awesome radio voice. The Cavs said Williams will be performing “unspecified duties.” If they have him collecting recycling outside of Quicken Loans Arena, I swear to you I’ll burn that place down — Comic Sans court and all.

2. The Jazz can’t beat good teams (they’re 1-7 in a recent string of games against teams with a winning record) and it’s starting to get to star point guard Deron Williams. “We’re not beating the caliber of teams that we’re going to be playing in the playoffs — if we get to the playoffs,” Williams told reporters. It appears the Al Jefferson experiment is not working out as well as everyone thought it would.

3. After 15 years with Nike, Steve Nash has broken things off and switched to Chinese shoe company Luyou. Word on the street is that Luyou doesn’t even make basketball shoes yet, but bringing Nash on board is sure to change that. It’s an untapped market that will likely increase his international profile substantially. Here’s a Luyou promo poster featuring Nash courtesy of

Off the wall: Well, it was bound to happen sometime. Lamar Odom and celebrity wife Khloe Kardashian have agreed to star in a reality series on E! called “Khloe and Lamar.” The show will focus on their marriage, his basketball career and house guest Rob Kardashian, Khloe’s brother, a concept so lame I don’t even have a joke for it.
