Tres caliente — “the hot three” if you trust my high school Spanish teacher — is a recap of the top 3 NBA stories of the day. From trade rumors to fines to injury reports to big-time performances, we’ve got you covered when it comes to NBA news — with a touch of Latin flair. Sofia Vergara. Here are the top 3 stories for Mon., Jan. 17.
1. Reports surfaced Sunday that the Nuggets gave the Nets permission to meet with Carmelo Anthony to discuss the possibility of signing an extension in New Jersey if Melo is traded there. That’s news to Melo though. The three-time All-Star vehemently denied knowledge of a meeting with the Nets. “I don’t want to talk to nobody,” he said. “I let the front office handle that type of stuff.” In other news, the Nuggets are selling Melo’s jersey 50% off in the team store. Looks like he’s headed somewhere — whether he likes it or not.
2. Speculation ran high about Dwight Howard skipping town in 2012 when the Magic were struggling earlier in the season. Now that they’re rolling, however, he’s singing a different tune. “I think we are fine. We got all the right pieces,” Howard said. “I would love to finish my career here.”
3. The red hot Clippers (who knocked the Lakers Sunday night for their fourth win in five games) have reportedly put Chris Kaman on the trade block. In return for their oft-injured center, Neil Olshey and Co. are looking for a “small forward with a reasonable contract.” That rules out Andre Iguodala and Gerald Wallace, but Tayshaun Prince could be a good fit.
Off the wall: Kim Kardashian’s friend, and Carmelo Anthony’s wife, LaLa Vasquez says Kardashian and Nets forward Kris Humphries are “just friends.” Not that it matters to him. As long as he’s hitting it, I doubt he cares what she calls him.
