I excused LeBron James when he refused to shake hands with the Magic after the Cavs lost the Eastern Conference Finals in 2009, so it would be hypocritical of me to kill Russell Westbrook for doing the same to the Mavs. Still, the Thunder can’t be happy with Westbrook’s attitude of late.
I don’t blame Westbrook for avoiding watching the opposing team celebrate after a loss. That has to hurt. Competitiveness aside, though, he has a lot of growing up to do. You can’t yell at coaches and horde shots at the end of games and expect everything to work out all Forrest Gump. Something’s gotta give.
Hopefully, Westbrook matures next season and the Thunder can continue their march toward world domination (a.k.a. multiple championships).
Assist, Larry Brown Sports.
